Step 1:
Raise Your Hand (or Paw)

If you’re ready to schedule your phone or video Skype consultation with our cat behaviorist, Mieshelle Nagelschneider, click the Schedule a Consultation button here:  Schedule a Consult. Veterinarian, Dr. Jim Shultz DVM conducts consultations locally or vet-to-vet remotely.

Or, by calling the clinic at 1-503-267-8888. We guarantee a reservation within 2 – 4  business days if we choose your appointment time.  If you request a specific appointment time, we can usually schedule you within 7 – 10 days.  Appointment times are available 7 days a week  from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific time/12:00 to 9:00 p.m. Eastern.  Payment is due at time of scheduling and this can be processed online or by calling the clinic.

Step 2:
Complete the Feline Behavior Questionnaire

You will have access to the feline behavior questionnaire once you’ve been scheduled and that’s where the fun starts — you get to talk about your kitties, non-stop, to someone extremely interested in hearing: Mieshelle Nagelschneider.  She has evaluated thousands of feline questionnaires for over two decades.

You will need to complete the Feline History Questionnaire online and submit it to us at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time.  Videos and still photography can be a vital component in evaluating your cat’s behavior issue(s). Once you schedule your consultation, you will receive information in your behavior packet email about what kind of video or photos we may need.

Step 3:
Cat Behavior Solution Program

You will be contacted by the clinic for your behavior consultation and Mieshelle will ask you even more questions and then give you a specific, customized feline cognition behavior program for solving your cat’s behavior issue(s) during your consultation. Plans are based on the uniqueness of your cat, but also the science of feline learning and memory and their evolutionary social and biological instincts.  This is a crucial aspect in changing the behavior of your cat.

If your cat is not having a behavior issue at the time of the consultation and you are just seeking advice to prevent behavior issues from occurring in the future or have other behavior related questions, Mieshelle will answer those questions during your consultation.  See our Rave Reviews about thousands of cats we’ve helped over the years.  You will also receive a diet analysis and recommendations for your cat(s).

Step 4:
Experience the Joy of Success: Happier You — Happier Cats.

We have the success rate we do because cat owners commit to following the easy-to-follow behavior plan steps we set out for them. Just as important, you are our eyes and ears sending in weekly email update reports, as you tell us how your cat is responding.

Our efficacy guarantee to you:  If after reviewing your completed behavior history questionnaire we determine a consultation program with the clinic would not be helpful or suitable for your cat, we will not hold the consultation and return the consultation fee.  In some cases, we may offer a free one-hour consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

All cat behavior solutions must take into consideration feline instincts and their evolutionary biology. The clinic has exclusive rights to Mieshelle Nagelschneider’s proprietary Cat Whisperer™ consulting, easy-to-implement C.A.T. Plan™ positive behavior modification, the most effective, comprehensive, and up-to-date system for curing any cat behavior problem.

Because every cat and environment is different, the plan allows for customized behavior techniques and environmental changes when needed – because cat behavior is not one-size-fits-all. Mieshelle has spent 20 years developing a method so effective that when clients follow it, their success rate is well over 90% (even higher for the most common issues).

Her science-based cat behavior book, The Cat Whisperer, has been featured in the New York Times and a best-seller on Amazon and published in 4 languages (Random House Publishing with co-writer Cameron Powell).

For cat behaviorists seeking certification, her book is a required curriculum by a number of cat behaviorist certifying organizations.

Love is born of mystery, and our cats are mysterious and loved in equal measure. But sometimes the greatest blessing of all is a bit of light thrown into a dark place. Mieshelle Nagelschneider holds that light. Allow her to share it with you.”– Gwen Cooper Author, Homer’s Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, of Life With a Blind Wonder Cat (Random House), New York, NY

Veterinarian: “Over the course of many years, Mieshelle has developed and refined her unique ability to think like a cat. On numerous occasions I have witnessed the life-changing benefits Mieshelle’s techniques can bring to cats and their sometimes very frustrated owners.” – Veterinarian, Dr. James R. Shultz DVM, Portland, Oregon

Cat Behavior Veterinarian Referral from Dr. Lisa Berger DVM: “Despite all the disruptions, there have been no incidents of urination on the bed or the couch, and neither have been covered by plastic all week!” – Juanita H. Portland, Oregon

You have the African wildcat, your domestic cat’s ancestor, to thank for many of your cat’s “unwanted” cat behaviors. Learn more about this during your consultation to better understand and help your cat and solve its behavior issues. We often misunderstand cat behaviors. Once cat owners understand their cat instincts and biology, they can better understand why the behavior strategies work so well and can better apply them.

Mieshelle The Cat Whisperer™ has been the spokesperson and cat behavior expert for Comfort Zone, Arm & Hammer Cat Litter, and Cat Expert for Whiska’s International Media Tour Australia. Feline behavior therapy is very different from canine behavior therapy and the approach to changing a cat’s behavior is even more unique. Cats do not display obedience problems like dogs. The help you need is not focused on physical or verbal behavior modification strategies, like dog training with a dog trainer present. All cat behaviorists conduct consultations by phone or video via Skype. Our behavior plans are specific to cats and still allow for the natural feline instincts, but when and where you want them displayed. We will cover the behavior plan during the phone or video consultation and offer follow-up over the course of several weeks for all of our consultation programs.
