Testimonial Urine-marking: Friendly, professional, and genuine are only a few words that describe Mieshelle and her staff at The Cat Behavior Clinic! Prior to calling the clinic, I worked a year and a half with my vet to manage my five-year-old cat’s (Dublin) UTI’s, urine crystals, and agression/anxiety towards another cat in the family of five cats. Dublin was on a special diet to avoid struvite crystals in his urine, and was also given Buspar for anxiety. Despite the changes, the additions, and my every creative effort, Dublin continued to spray in numerous areas of the house. I contacted The Cat Behavior Center, which I should have done much sooner! Mieshelle is a true cat expert! After my first phone consult, I received a follow up e-mail that reviewed the discussed information and included links to suggested products. Her ideas were easy to implement, and although they were simple adjustments, together they led to Dublin’s success. After a month of following Mieshelle’s suggestions, Dublin’s inappropriate marking has stopped! My sanity is beginning to return, and I am so grateful to Mieshelle and her staff! Listen to her advice and follow her tactics! Cindy L. Kane, Pennsylvania
There are several ways in which cats deposit urine.
- Squatting elimination urination.
- Spray-marking on the vertical (a variant is spraying on a horizontal surface).
- Non-spray urine-marking (can look very much like urination).
- Stand-up vertical urination (looks just like vertical urine spray-marking and more common that you think due to several factors).
- Associative Marking (which you probably have not read much about on the internet

Testimonial: The Cat Behavior Clinic – Just an email to let you know we have been urine spray free for 25 days and counting! You literally save our household and our cats! I had forgotten what our house smelled like urine-free. Thank you for all your help and we will keep in touch before Christmas for our second follow-up, but I doubt we will need it. We can talk about adding a third cat perhaps! Thank you again for all your knowledge on what we were told was an unsolvable issue. Many thanks, Nancy S. New York, NY
“Just thought you’d like to know this is day 18 of no spraying!! You have changed our lives! Everyone (and I mean everyone) is happy now! Your advice has given us sanity again and we can’t thank you enough. Our vet is very impressed as well especially with the (behavior advice removed).”M. Tyler, Brooklyn, NY
Dear Mieshelle, I am writing to tell you how valuable my consultation with you was. It was about two years ago that Dante was spraying all over my art studio. After contacting you, I have to say that that the problem is solved, with much hard work and following all of your advice. I am at a point now that I understand my Bengal so much better. Just thinking about how knowledgeable and talented you are, and how grateful I am for finding you.
Best, Diane A. San Francisco, CA
“Our vet recommended Mieshelle because they couldn’t figure out why our cat Toby was spraying. We ran every blood and urine test you could think of. It took Mieshelle less than 10 minutes to not only figure out why Toby was spraying on the back of the sofa chair every morning, but how to fix the problem. He quit doing this the next day and hasn’t had an accident since! I can’t believe how simple it was to fix this problem with her C.A.T. Plan! I am so glad I called her! She is also going to help us introduce our cat to our new daughter we are adopting from China. She has already given me advice on this and I am so grateful.”

You have the African wildcat, your domestic cat’s ancestor, to thank for many of your cat’s “unwanted” cat behaviors. Learn more about this during your consultation to better understand and help your cat and solve its behavior issues. We often misunderstand cat behaviors. Once cat owners understand their cat instincts and biology, they can better understand why the behavior strategies work so well and can better apply them.

Feline behavior therapy is very different from canine behavior therapy and the approach to changing a cat’s behavior is even more unique. Cats do not display obedience problems like dogs. The help you need is not focused on physical or verbal behavior modification strategies, like dog training with a dog trainer present. All cat behaviorists conduct consultations by phone or video via Skype. Our behavior plans are specific to cats and still allow for the natural feline instincts, but when and where you want them displayed. We will cover the behavior plan during the phone or video consultation and offer follow-up over the course of several weeks for all of our consultation programs.
